How to track my Cainiao package?

Ordertracker provides a simple solution to track your Cainiao packages. To begin, you'll need a Cainiao tracking number provided by the sender or the retailer.

Enter your tracking number in the above field and hit "enter." Our tracker will then fetch the latest tracking details for your package.

You'll see a timeline showing your package's journey, including its current location, transit history, and expected delivery date. This keeps you informed about your Cainiao package in real time.

Where can I find my Cainiao tracking number?

Finding your Cainiao tracking number is usually simple. When you buy an item online or send a package, the tracking number is typically given by the online store or sender. If you're the recipient, the sender often provides it via email, text, or on the order confirmation page.

For online purchases, log in to your store account to find the tracking number in your order history or tracking section. You can also find it in shipping notifications sent to your email or phone.

Once you have the tracking number, you can easily use Ordertracker to monitor your package's progress. This tool shows your package's journey and estimated delivery date.

Why isn't my Cainiao package moving in the package tracking history?

Dealing with a Cainiao package that appears stuck in tracking can be frustrating. Yet, there are steps to tackle this. If you've been using Ordertracker and see no progress, start by being patient. Delays, like customs or logistical issues, can arise.

If the delay remains, contact Cainiao or the sender for specifics. They can offer insight or investigate. Keep your tracking number ready for a smoother process. Sometimes, misrouting or address errors cause delays. Confirm the details provided to you by the sender. Remember, Cainiao customer service or the sender can help resolve shipping delays.

When I track my Cainiao package, why does it show as "returned"?

If you're tracking your Cainiao package and it's marked as "returned", this usually means that the package has been sent back to the sender or the shipment origin location for a specific reason. There are a few common explanations for why a Cainiao package might be labeled as "returned":

Incorrect address

An unclear or inaccurate address from sender or recipient might lead Cainiao to be unable to deliver, resulting in a return.

Unsuccessful delivery attempts

If multiple delivery attempts fail, Cainiao may return the package instead of holding it indefinitely.

Unclaimed package

If the recipient doesn't collect the package within a timeframe from a post office or delivery center, Cainiao might return it.

Customs issues

International packages can be return due to customs problems like missing or incorrect documents.

If your Cainiao package is "returned" in tracking, contact the sender or Cainiao customer service. This clarifies the return reason and lets you explore solutions like resending or refunding. Please note that return procedures can vary based on Cainiao policies and circumstances.

Why does the Cainiao parcel tracking timeline indicate that my order cannot be found?

When your Cainiao parcel tracking lacks information, it may indicate a "cannot be found" message. This happens for a few reasons:

Incorrect tracking number

Ensure your tracking number is accurate. Even a small mistake can prevent the system from recognizing your package.

Delayed update

Sometimes, tracking details might be slower to update in Cainiao system. Wait and check again later for potential updates.

Recently shipped

If the package was recently sent, it might not be processed by Cainiao yet. Tracking should appear shortly.

Smart logistics platform founded in 2013

Cainiao Smart Logistics Network Limited, more commonly known as Cainiao, is a Chinese logistics company founded in 2013 under the aegis of the Alibaba Group and a consortium of major delivery companies in China. Based in Hangzhou, this entity serves as the logistics arm for Alibaba. Unlike traditional carriers with their own fleet of vehicles, Cainiao initially adopted a lean infrastructure model: it is primarily an intelligent logistics platform that relies on data and technology to coordinate a vast network of partners. Its role is to connect thousands of carriers, warehouses, and courier companies to provide efficient and cost-effective shipping solutions on a large scale.

From its inception, Cainiao announced ambitious goals to revolutionize online commerce logistics. Its main mission is to meet the logistics needs generated by Alibaba's e-commerce platforms (such as AliExpress, Taobao, or Tmall) while offering its services to other companies. In a few years, Cainiao has become a major player in the supply chain in China, achieving "unicorn" status (exceptional valuation) and establishing itself as one of the largest logistics companies in the country. Its network now extends across China and to more than 200 countries and regions internationally, with millions of parcels processed daily. This global reach allows it to facilitate the shipment of parcels from China to almost any destination, making Cainiao a pillar of parcel transit related to global e-commerce.

Cainiao's role in the global logistics network

In just a few years, Cainiao has established itself as an essential link in the global logistics network, particularly for cross-border e-commerce. Its intervention strengthens the connection between Asian (notably Chinese) sellers and consumers worldwide by simplifying and streamlining the shipping process. By orchestrating the shipment of several million packages daily, Cainiao helps to smooth international trade in goods, making it possible to ship low-cost products ordered online from abroad.

Cainiao's position in global logistics is that of an integrator and coordinator. Rather than operating as an isolated traditional carrier, Cainiao connects various supply chain players (from national postal services to private express courier companies) within a unified platform. This collaborative approach makes the best use of existing infrastructure and increases overall efficiency. For example, a parcel shipped from a factory in China can transit via the Cainiao network: it will be picked up by a local partner, grouped with other shipments in a Cainiao center, transported by plane to an international platform, and then handed over to the postal service of the destination country for final delivery. Cainiao thus acts as a strategic intermediary, overseeing each key step and exchanging information between stakeholders. This model has significantly reduced logistical barriers for international online commerce by providing reliable delivery solutions where previously sending small parcels abroad was slow and costly.

Thanks to its scale and Alibaba's support, Cainiao is also a driver of innovation in the global logistics sector. It participates in global initiatives such as the creation of optimized trade corridors and international logistics sorting centers (notably as part of the eWTP (Electronic World Trade Platform) strategy promoted by Alibaba). By federating a wide range of carriers and warehouses, Cainiao encourages the sharing of logistics resources between countries and ensures better visibility of cross-border flows. This makes it a partner of choice for merchants wishing to export on a large scale and a major facilitator of global online sales growth.

Specificities of Cainiao's logistics model

Cainiao's logistics model is distinguished by its network approach and flexibility. Unlike competitors who manage end-to-end delivery with their own planes, trucks, and couriers, Cainiao operates as a sophisticated third-party logistics (3PL) platform. In concrete terms, this means that Cainiao does not necessarily transport parcels with its own means but relies on an ecosystem of partners. It coordinates the interventions of more than three thousand logistics partners and millions of couriers worldwide, choosing the most appropriate route and carrier for each shipment. This "asset-light" model has allowed it to grow rapidly and handle enormous volumes without having to immediately invest in a global fleet.

In practice, Cainiao's operation relies on real-time data collection and analysis to orchestrate the movement of parcels. When an order is placed, Cainiao identifies the optimal sorting center to group parcels from the same region, the most cost-effective international flight, and the most efficient local distribution service. This ongoing optimization, made possible by advanced algorithms, reduces logistics costs and delays as much as possible within an economical service framework. The downside of this model is that the same parcel may change hands several times during its journey, passing from one company to another. Each transfer depends on good synchronization between partners and the updating of tracking information. Cainiao must therefore manage the inherent complexity of this multi-actor chain, which can occasionally lead to tracking gaps or variations in service quality from one region to another.

Over time, Cainiao has begun to expand its infrastructure to gain control over critical segments. For example, the company is investing in its own automated sorting centers and strategic warehouses and charters cargo planes in collaboration with airlines to secure transport capacity. However, the essence of the Cainiao model remains the same: capitalizing on an extensive network of logistics partners rather than internalizing everything. This shared approach allows Cainiao to absorb volume spikes (during commercial holidays like "Double 11" in China) by quickly mobilizing its partners and offering e-merchants modular logistics solutions, adaptable to their needs and those of end customers.

Cainiao's delivery service typologies

Cainiao offers a range of delivery services tailored to the varied needs of e-commerce, from the most economical options to premium fast solutions. The choice of service generally depends on the urgency of the delivery, the type of product shipped, and the agreements made with the merchant. Several categories of logistics services offered by Cainiao can be distinguished:

  • Domestic services in China: Cainiao provides deliveries within China in collaboration with local couriers. With Alibaba's support, it can deliver within 24 hours in many Chinese regions. These domestic services (often under the Cainiao Express or Cainiao Guoguo brands) rely on a dense network of partners for fast deliveries (often the same day or the next day in major cities).
  • International economy services: For sending small, low-value items, Cainiao offers very low-cost solutions such as Cainiao Super Economy (sometimes called Super Economy Global). This service prioritizes price over speed: parcels take economical routes (often by land or flights with stopovers), and tracking may be partial. Often, once the parcel is shipped out of China, tracking updates become scarce until it arrives in the destination country. These economical offers, with the longest delivery times, are popular for items where the main criterion is the minimal shipping cost.
  • Standard shipping services: Cainiao also operates a range of standard deliveries, the most well-known being AliExpress Standard Shipping (managed in the background by Cainiao). This shipping mode, widely used on the group's platforms, offers a balance between cost and time. Standard parcels are generally shipped by air with more regular tracking. Cainiao also offers a variant called Cainiao Expedited Standard , which is an accelerated version of the standard service, offering slightly shorter delivery times and better tracking visibility for a slight surcharge. These standard formulas are suitable for most moderately valued products in dropshipping or classic e-commerce.
  • Specialized and premium services: For goods requiring special handling, Cainiao has developed dedicated offers. For example, Cainiao Special Goods is aimed at shipments containing regulated materials (lithium batteries, liquids, etc.) and ensures handling in compliance with safety standards, with tracking to the destination. Similarly, the Cainiao Heavy Parcel Line exists to ship bulky or heavy items internationally, relying on suitable freight partners. Finally, Cainiao can offer premium international services allowing faster delivery (typically one to two weeks worldwide) with full tracking. These high-end offers, more expensive, are preferred for valuable items or when the customer experience (speed, visibility) is a major issue.

Regardless of the chosen formula, it is important to note that Cainiao almost always relies on a partner for the last mile. Thus, even for its Premium services, the "last mile" will be handled by a local company (national post or private courier) in the destination country. The diversity of its shipping typologies allows Cainiao to cover all market segments: from non-urgent economical parcels to closely monitored express delivery, including specific logistics needs. This makes Cainiao a versatile logistics provider in the e-commerce ecosystem.

Cainiao's network of international warehouses and sorting centers

To support the rapid delivery and considerable volume of parcels, Cainiao relies on an extensive network of warehouses, sorting centers, and logistics sorting centers worldwide. In China, the company has established large distribution centers in strategic areas. These national warehouses, often automated, serve to group parcels from sellers in different provinces and sort them by final destination. Thanks to these platforms, Cainiao can consolidate shipments destined for the same country or continent, thus optimizing the filling of trucks and cargo planes.

On the international scene, Cainiao has established global sorting centers, called eHubs, in several key locations. For example, in Liège, Belgium, Cainiao operates a major logistics platform for Europe. Located near the airport, this European center serves as an entry point for goods from China to the European Union and vice versa, speeding up customs clearance and parcel distribution across the continent. Similarly, in Southeast Asia, Cainiao has a significant eHub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, taking advantage of the airport's free trade zone status to facilitate shipping to neighboring countries. Hong Kong is another pillar of its network: Cainiao has built a "Smart Logistics sorting center" adjacent to the airport, designed as a state-of-the-art and eco-friendly hub for e-commerce freight in Asia.

In addition to these major sorting centers, Cainiao is developing a network of overseas local warehouses (often called cHubs in its strategy) to get closer to consumers. In cooperation with local partners, Cainiao operates distribution centers in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Spain, for example. These international warehouses allow sellers to store products in advance near their target markets. Thus, when an order is placed by a European or Southeast Asian customer, the product can be shipped directly from the regional warehouse, drastically reducing delivery time compared to a shipment from China. This anticipation strategy, combined with air transit sorting centers, illustrates Cainiao's commitment to continuously improving the efficiency of its global logistics network.

Finally, Cainiao's ongoing investment in infrastructure is also evident in the multiplication of automated sorting centers and intelligent warehousing systems. Whether it's high-speed sorting lines, mobile robots in warehouses, or real-time inventory management systems, each Cainiao sorting center aims to process a massive volume of parcels with minimal human intervention and maximum reliability. The expansion of this physical network on a global scale, coupled with Cainiao's digital coordination, allows for an integrated e-commerce logistics where international distances are crossed more and more quickly and efficiently.

Technologies and logistics innovations employed by Cainiao

At the heart of Cainiao's success is an intensive use of advanced technologies to optimize logistics. The company positions itself as a technology player as much as a logistics operator. It uses Big Data to analyze parcel flows and predict trends: algorithms continuously ingest data from orders, routes, customs conditions, or weather to refine routing. Artificial intelligence is used to make real-time decisions, for example, choosing the best carrier for a given route or adjusting the distribution of parcels across different sorting centers based on load.

Cainiao also invests in the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve parcel traceability and management. Many warehouses and sorting centers in the network are equipped with connected sensors and automated scanning systems. Each package can be identified and tracked by barcode or QR code throughout its journey, and in some cases by RFID tags for even smoother tracking. These IoT devices provide valuable information (position, temperature, possible shocks) and allow for the rapid detection of potential incidents (delayed, blocked parcels, etc.).

In terms of logistics innovation, Cainiao has been a pioneer in several initiatives. One of them is the implementation of the universal electronic waybill (e-waybill) in China: a nationally standardized shipping label system adopted by thousands of delivery companies. This innovation, introduced under Cainiao's impetus, has standardized parcel information and accelerated their processing in sorting centers while reducing paper. Cainiao is also experimenting with futuristic delivery solutions: autonomous delivery vehicles have been deployed as a pilot in certain cities or campuses in China, capable of distributing parcels to customers without human intervention. Additionally, the company is developing a network of smart lockers and automated collection points (under the Cainiao Post banner) where recipients can pick up their parcels in self-service via a code, which relieves delivery rounds and offers more flexibility to customers.

Innovation at Cainiao is not limited to visible technology; it also touches processes. For example, Cainiao continuously optimizes its allocation algorithms for container and aircraft loading to maximize the use of each flight or truck while avoiding delays. AI-powered forecasting systems help position stocks in a particular warehouse even before the order is placed, predicting which products will be in demand and where. All these technological advances contribute to improving the speed, reliability, and profitability of the Cainiao network, allowing it to manage mass logistics with a precision and efficiency that would have been unthinkable a few years ago.

Cainiao's partnerships and integrations with e-commerce platforms

Cainiao owes much of its success to its deep integration with online commerce platforms, starting with those of the Alibaba Group. As a subsidiary of Alibaba, Cainiao works hand in hand with merchant sites such as AliExpress, Taobao, or Tmall. In practice, when a buyer places an order on one of these platforms, the Cainiao logistics system is automatically solicited in the background to organize the shipment. For example, the "AliExpress Standard Shipping" shipping option actually corresponds to Cainiao's standard services. This seamless integration means that sellers and buyers do not need to select a specific carrier: the Cainiao network takes care of the order and chooses the best delivery route. Tracking information is also fed directly into the order pages of Alibaba platforms, offering a unified user experience.

Beyond the Alibaba ecosystem, Cainiao forges partnerships with other e-commerce and logistics players. Many international online stores, third-party marketplaces, and dropshipping merchants use Cainiao solutions to ship their products from China or Asia. The main attraction is the competitive cost and access to an already established global network. Cainiao has also entered into cooperation agreements with major delivery companies and national posts. In China, its launch in 2013 was alongside major local courier companies, giving it national coverage from the start. Internationally, Cainiao collaborates with recognized logistics groups to transport parcels over long distances and inject them into local postal circuits. Without publicly displaying all its partners, Cainiao typically relies on national posts (such as USPS, La Poste, Royal Mail, etc.) and private express carriers to complete its service where it is not directly established.

This strategy of multiple partnerships makes Cainiao a discreet but omnipresent player. Rather than directly competing with traditional carriers, Cainiao acts as a conductor of the e-commerce world. Online platforms can integrate its tracking and shipping API to automatically offer sellers to ship via Cainiao, thus simplifying their procedures. Similarly, for carriers, being in the Cainiao network means accessing large volumes of parcels generated by Alibaba and its partners. In short, Cainiao inserts itself into the e-commerce value chain not only through its own services but also by serving as a link between online sales platforms and the entire market logistics providers. This collaborative model allows it to continuously strengthen its network and offer end consumers a more transparent delivery of their orders, regardless of the seller or the product's country of origin.

Cainiao's last-mile delivery capability

The "last mile" (i.e., the final stage of delivery to the recipient) is often the most complex and costly challenge in the logistics chain. Cainiao addresses this issue by combining partnerships and innovations to ensure that parcels reach the customer's door reliably. In most destination countries, Cainiao does not have its own couriers: it hands over shipments to local operators who have the final distribution infrastructure (postal workers, private courier deliverers, etc.). However, Cainiao does not merely passively delegate this critical phase: it ensures that these last-mile partners are well integrated into its system. This means that tracking information, delivery requirements (signature, pick-up point...), and feedback from local deliverers are exchanged smoothly with the Cainiao platform. The end customer thus benefits from continuous tracking, even when taken over by the final carrier.

In China, where the parcel volume is colossal, Cainiao has implemented specific solutions to master the last mile. For example, Cainiao Guoguo is a mobile application that serves as a platform for connecting shippers, independent couriers, and local delivery companies. Through Guoguo, an individual or small business can request a parcel pick-up, and the system will automatically assign an available deliverer nearby, optimizing rounds. This collaborative delivery logic allows for the mobilization of a large number of deliverers, including self-employed individuals, to densify the distribution network, especially in densely populated urban areas.

Cainiao has also deployed a network of Cainiao Post, consisting of collection points and automatic lockers distributed in neighborhoods, on university campuses, and in rural areas in China. These locations serve as nearby parcel relay points where residents can come to pick up (or even drop off) packages. This system has a dual advantage: it facilitates delivery in the absence of the recipient at home, and it mutualizes distribution (a deliverer can drop off several parcels at a single point instead of going to each address). The Cainiao Post smart lockers, accessible via a code or an app scan, extend this convenience by offering 24/7 self-service pickup. Through these devices, Cainiao increases its last-mile delivery capacity while reducing delivery failures.

Finally, Cainiao continues to improve last-mile logistics by testing new approaches. In addition to the already mentioned autonomous vehicles that can serve defined areas, the company is exploring the use of precise mapping and data to optimize partner deliverers' routes (reducing kilometers traveled, grouping deliveries in a temporally close sector, etc.). It is also working on predictive visibility: for example, sending customers more precise notifications about the deliverer's time slot, thanks to information collected throughout the journey. In short, Cainiao's last-mile capability relies on a hybrid ecosystem combining the expertise of local players and the technological tools developed by Cainiao, all aimed at ensuring that the "delivery promise" made during the online purchase is effectively fulfilled to the doorstep.

Cainiao's management of international and cross-border flows

The management of international shipments is one of Cainiao's strengths, which was designed to facilitate cross-border flows of goods. When a parcel must cross borders, Cainiao coordinates a series of precise logistical steps to ensure smooth transit despite distance and formalities. It all starts with the consolidation of shipments in the country of origin: in China, Cainiao directs parcels from different sellers to regional consolidation centers. There, the packages are assembled by destination or common route, then placed in sealed containers or postal bags. This massification allows, for example, sending a single batch of hundreds of parcels to Europe rather than scattered shipments, reducing unit costs and the risk of dispersions.

Once consolidated, the shipments leave the country of origin. Cainiao organizes the main transport (crossing) via its air or sea partners. The air route is preferred for most e-commerce parcels to speed up delivery: Cainiao reserves capacities on regular cargo flights and even charters dedicated flights on heavily trafficked routes (China-Europe, China-America, China-Southeast Asia). Meanwhile, electronic data on shipments is transmitted in advance to the destination country's authorities - this is often called pre-customs notification. Cainiao sends detailed information to customs (parcel content, value, sender, recipient, etc.) before the physical arrival of goods, saving time during control.

Upon arrival in the destination country, parcels go through the delicate customs clearance stage. Cainiao, through its partners or its own local teams, handles customs formalities for all parcels arrived in the batch. If customs duties or taxes are applicable (for example, for shipments valued above exemption thresholds), Cainiao can take care of payment in advance or in collaboration with the recipient and customs. Once controls are completed and parcels cleared, they are injected into the domestic logistics network of the country. Often, they arrive at a main sorting center (entry sorting center) where they are separated by final delivery regions.

Cainiao strives to minimize delays at each border crossing point. For example, its international sorting centers like the one in Liège have integrated customs clearance centers where customs agents operate on-site to quickly process Cainiao volumes. Additionally, the company closely monitors each cross-border batch: if an incident occurs (a flight delay, a parcel held for random inspection, etc.), Cainiao teams can reroute parcels via another flight or provide additional documents required by authorities to unblock the situation. This proactive management of international flows means that, despite the distance, Cainiao parcels cross borders with maximum anticipation and efficiency.

After customs clearance, the last part of the international journey consists of transferring parcels to the local network for final distribution (the previously mentioned last mile). Cainiao then transmits all necessary information to the local carrier: recipient address, tracking number (often converted or associated with a local number), and possibly delivery instructions. This integrated system ensures that, even internationally, the logistics chain remains tracked from end to end. Ultimately, Cainiao's management of cross-border flows relies on a combination of upstream preparation, dedicated entry/exit point infrastructures, and continuous digital communication between all involved actors. This allows millions of parcels to travel across the globe with remarkable speed and reliability for a service of this scale.

Cainiao's parcel tracking and identification systems

Cainiao places great importance on shipment tracking, offering shippers and recipients visibility on every step of the parcel's journey. When a shipment is handled by the Cainiao network, it is assigned a unique tracking number. This number, often alphanumeric, serves as a universal identifier for the shipment. For example, many Cainiao parcels destined for international destinations have a number starting with LP followed by digits. This Cainiao number allows tracking the package on the Cainiao platform, but it can also be linked to partners' systems: thus, when the parcel is handed over to a local carrier, the latter can associate the Cainiao number with its own internal tracking number, ensuring continuity of information.

The Cainiao tracking system is powered by scans and status updates performed at each key stage. From the moment the label is created and the parcel is registered in the system, an initial status is visible ("shipment information received"). Then, each relay brings its set of statuses: taken over by the initial carrier, arrival at such sorting center, departure from the country of origin, arrival in the destination country, customs clearance, transfer to the final deliverer, etc. Cainiao consolidates all this information, even when it comes from different carriers, and makes it available on a single interface. Customers can access tracking via the Cainiao website or app, but also directly on the e-commerce platform where they purchased (since Cainiao is integrated, statuses are automatically repatriated there).

To ensure reliable parcel identification, Cainiao relies on label standardization and a common digital ecosystem. Each parcel carries a Cainiao barcode or QR code that partners can read, avoiding the need to re-label the parcel at each handover. This unified label saves time and prevents routing errors. Additionally, Cainiao uses systems to quickly detect any anomalies. For example, if a parcel has not been scanned for an abnormally long time at a given stage, the system can issue an internal alert for investigation. Similarly, Cainiao provides sellers and merchant platforms with dashboards on delivery performance (average times, first delivery success rate, etc.), made possible by the centralized collection of all this tracking data.

In summary, Cainiao's tracking and identification systems are designed to provide transparency and reliability. They allow shippers to know where their goods are and end customers to be informed in real-time. This helps build trust in international online purchases. Although some economical services offer only partial tracking (by choice to reduce costs), the majority of shipments via Cainiao benefit from end-to-end tracking. The standardization of parcel numbers, the interconnection of partner carriers' databases, and the intelligent exploitation of this information make Cainiao's system one of the most advanced for tracing the complex itinerary of a parcel crossing multiple countries.

Cainiao tracking statuses

Status Description
Pending pickup The parcel has been registered in the system (label created), but it has not yet been physically handed over to the carrier or the Cainiao network
Picked up by carrier The parcel has been collected by Cainiao or one of its initial partners. It has now entered the shipping network, and its journey to the recipient begins
Arrived at sorting center The parcel has arrived at a sorting center or intermediate warehouse. It is grouped with other shipments and prepared for the next stage of its journey
Departed from sorting center The parcel has left the sorting center or warehouse where it was located. It has been shipped to another logistics platform or directly to the next transit or destination country
Departure from origin country The parcel has left the shipping country. It is in international transit, usually aboard a plane or another long-haul transport, en route to the destination country
Arrived in destination country The parcel has reached the recipient's country. It is often taken over by import services and awaiting possible customs checks upon entry into the territory
Customs clearance in progress The parcel is being processed by the customs authorities of the destination country. Customs are examining the shipment (document verification, possible duties and taxes) before allowing it to continue its journey
Customs clearance completed The parcel has successfully passed customs. Import formalities are completed, and the package is released to resume its journey to the recipient
Handed over to local carrier After importation, the parcel has been handed over to a local carrier responsible for final delivery. This partner may be the national post or a courier service in the country, which will transport the parcel in the domestic network
Arrived at local distribution center The parcel has reached a logistics center near the destination address (regional distribution center, local agency). From there, it will be dispatched to the final delivery circuit (delivery round)
Out for delivery The parcel is currently on the delivery vehicle or in the hands of a deliverer to be handed over to the recipient. The delivery attempt is imminent or taking place that day
Delivered The parcel has been successfully handed over to the recipient. It may be a hand-to-hand delivery, a drop-off in a mailbox, or a delivery to an agreed collection point. The delivery chain is thus positively completed
Delivery attempt failed The deliverer tried to hand over the parcel, without success. For example, the recipient was absent, the address was incomplete or inaccessible. Generally, a notification is left (notice of passage), and a new delivery attempt or availability at a pick-up point will be scheduled
Delivery incident An unforeseen problem has affected the normal routing of the parcel. This exception status can cover various situations: lost or delayed parcel, damaged parcel, refused by the recipient, or return initiated to the sender. An investigation or corrective action is usually required from the carrier or sender
Return to sender The parcel could not be delivered and is starting a return journey to the original sender. This can occur after several delivery failures or in case of an invalid address. The package thus returns in the network in reverse to be sent back to the sender
